It was no trick of the eyes when Joe and Jo Macaluso pulled into Almond Tree RV Resort in
Chico on Halloween in a beautiful brand new Winnebago Vista 35H! And they definitely
treated us, with champagne and Jo delicious hors dâ oeuvres, as we œoohed and ahh adâ
during their Open House that evening.
Wagonmasters Norm and Judy Silva, Scott and Carol Kenyon, and Sherry Shook followed
up with a hearty soup and salad dinner afterwards in the clubhouse, and our annual
Thanksgiving outing was off to a terrific start! Everyone admired the decorations, especially
the beautiful table runners made by Sherry and Margo Berenberg.
We gathered together again on Friday for a tasty Hobo Stew lunch. Afterwards, Judy Silva
led interested quilters on a Quilt Shop road trip. They made it to 3 out of the 5 shops in the
Chico area. That evening Bob and Mary Jehle welcomed us to their lovely home for our
Social Hour, followed by dinner at the Italian Cottage Restaurant.
New members Joe and Maria Johnson were introduced and welcomed at our meeting on
Saturday by President Sue Chambers. Art Schipper reported that Sandy Schipper and Sue
had delivered 50 beautiful handmade pillowcases to the Yountville Veterans Home, where
they were very gratefully received for their patients. Sandy had hand sewn a label into each
pillowcase expressing appreciation for their service to our country. The pillowcases were
made by our Chardonnay ladies as our clubs Charity Project.
Saturday evening everyone contributed side dishes and desserts for our sumptuous
Thanksgiving Dinner, and what a feast it was!! Pat Winn, unbelievably, was once AGAIN
the lucky winner of the 50/50 raffle pot! And Johnny Matranga, after being totally out of
dimes several times, was the surprise winner of the after-dinner LCR game.
Following a good get-away breakfast, we headed on down the highway, having once again
enjoyed a wonderful weekend catching up on each others news and travels.
