Eleven Chardonnay Travelers’ RVs gathered for another fun-filled outing on May 15-18 at Betabel RV Park
in San Juan Bautista, this time hosted by the Worleys and the Winns. Arriving on a sizzling afternoon
(temps over 100), members appreciated the air-conditioned clubhouse when they gathered for a dinner of
“Sliders, Salads, and Sundaes”. Dinner was followed by some crazy Team Games: “Cottage-Cheese-Lid
Frisbee Toss”, “Oreo Stacking Contest”, “Name That Kitchen Gadget”, “Clothespin Drop”, and “Fling the
On Friday, we all carpooled to Mt. Madonna County Park for a wonderful picnic in the redwoods. The
weather was perfect, and the group enjoyed the beautiful setting as they ate, visited, and played afternoon
games of Ladder Golf and Beanbag Baseball. One group had a hilarious time working together on some
word puzzles Linda had brought. Back at the RV park, a dinner of rotisseried chicken, side salads, beans,
and rolls was provided by hosts. But plans for the campfire, s’mores, and stories were scrapped, as the
fire marshall had closed the firepit.
Saturday San Juan Bautista was having a Rib Cook-off Festival, which altered our planned activities a bit.
Following the morning Chapter meeting, there were so many picnic left-overs, we had lunch in the
clubhouse. That evening we met for a delicious Mexican dinner at Dona Esther’s in SJB. Pitchers of
Margaritas helped us survive the rowdy party who shared our reserved back room. Thank goodness they
left just as we were being served! We all heaved a collective sigh of relief and were then able to enjoy our
dinners. After dinner, we gathered in the clubhouse to collect our game prizes. Bob Anderson “called” the
Card Bingo game that followed.
After a sumptuous Sunday morning get-away breakfast, we headed for the highway having enjoyed
another memorable Chardonnay outing together.
