NOVEMBER 2014

Fourteen Chardonnay Travelers’ gathered November 6-9 at the Calistoga Fairgrounds for our
annual Thanksgiving outing.  Our hosts, Judy & Norm Silva, Carol & Scott Kenyon, had a
fun-filled weekend planned for us.

Thursday evening, we caught up on each other’s news and travels while enjoying a hearty
appetizer potluck around a fire pit in Tom & Jan Balcer’s lovely back yard.

Friday morning, many members opted for a 15 minute chair massage.  At noon we enjoyed a
delicious Hobo soup and salad luncheon provided by our hosts.  After lunch, Judy Mullen
taught a craft class where members made a “Microwave Bowl Buddy” and a “Mug Mat”.
Those not taking the class played Ladder Golf and visited. That evening, we car-pooled to
dinner in Calistoga at All Seasons Bistro, followed by an LCR game back at the clubhouse.

On Saturday morning at our chapter meeting new members Lois & Don Russell, and Dell &
Judy Jackson were welcomed into the Chardonnay Travelers.  President Bob Anderson
presented them with their chapter flag and pictures were taken.

We also voted in the slate of officers for 2015:  Bob Anderson will continue as President; Joe
Macaluso will continue as Vice-President; Pat Winn, Treasurer; Judy Mullen, Secretary; and Sue
Chambers will continue as Past President.  They will be installed at the Christmas Party.

Saturday afternoon, members enjoyed a group tour of the Bale Grist Mill Historic Park.  That
evening, we all gathered in the clubhouse for a sumptuous traditional turkey dinner.  Our hosts
outdid themselves preparing the turkeys to perfection, with members supplying delectable side
dishes and wicked-good desserts!

Following the get-away breakfast provided by our hosts, we headed back down Highway 29,
having learned that the Silverado Trail was closed for a race.  But who could complain?  The
vineyards and trees were in full fall color, so it was a beautiful ride through the Napa Valley after
another wonderful outing.
