February 2015
Local Chapter by Judy Mullen

February-Eleven motor homes arrived Thursday afternoon at Skyline Wilderness
Park in Napa, the heart of the beautiful California wine country.  The hosts for the
weekend were Sue Chambers, Gene and Judy Mullen.  Skyline is a beautiful park
overlooking the valley with hiking trails, Frisbee golf, archery, and a dog park.

The hosts had prepared dinner for the group.  It just so happened to be national Chili
Day, so chili with onion, cheese, rice, cornbread muffins, and Caesar salad were
served.   This was followed with ice cream sundaes.

Friday everyone was on their own with lots of visiting and dog walking.  At 1:30 we
car pooled to the Napa Bowl.  A hilarious 2 house followed with 16 senior citizens
attempting to keep the ball out of the gutter.  By the end of the first game pins were
really starting to fall.  After so much laughing and cheering, we all moved to the Black
Bear Diner for a delicious dinner and yummy desert.

Saturday morning was the chapter meeting.

In the afternoon 4 ladies gathered in the social hall for a sewing-crafting get
together.  The weather kept many inside as we had rain, a little hail, thunder,
lightning, and sun.  Some drove into downtown Napa to see the damage done in last
August’s earthquake.  It is interesting how one building will crumble, while those on
either side are still standing.  Dinner was a pot luck with the hosts preparing a
yummy pork loin.  A number of members stayed late playing games.

After a getaway breakfast, one by one we headed home.  We are looking forward to
your next outing.
