Chardonnay Travelers members gathered for three fun-filled days at Duck Island RV Park in Rio
Vista on March 26-29. There were ten RVs camped beside the Sacramento River for this outing.
After setting up, we clustered our chairs in the shade on the grassy riverbank behind our rigs,
catching up with friends while watching the river traffic and fishermen.
Our hosts, President Bob and Gloria Anderson, who live nearby, had arranged 3 different tours for
this outing: the Jelly Belly Factory, the Budweiser Brewery, and the Train Museum, all short
distances away. The Jelly Belly Factory tour was free, and our members either had lunch in the
café or brought a picnic to enjoy in the patio afterwards. In the afternoon, we took the brewery
tour for a nominal fee, which included 2 tastings and a souvenir glass. Friday evening, we had
dinner at The Point Restaurant, where we enjoyed good food and service, reasonable prices, and
excellent views of the river. It was especially heartwarming that members Don and Judy Walton
were able to join us, as Judy has been making an outstanding recovery since her January fall
backwards out of their RV.
On Saturday, following our chapter meeting, club members went through the Train Museum, which
included a short train ride. That evening, we gathered for a wonderful potluck dinner at the
Anderson’s home, where a good time was had by all. The next morning, following our “get-away”
breakfast, we exchaned good-bys and headed for home.
